Representatives from the Caribbean Attended the World Social Marketing Conference

Sydney-- As part of the sustainability component of the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) Caribbean Social Marketing (CARISMA) IV project, five Caribbean leaders attended the World Social Marketing Conference held at the Rydges World Square Hotel, Sydney, Australia 19-21 April 2015.  

The mission of the Social Marketing Conference series is to be a vehicle to help build a global movement dedicated to capturing, spreading and nurturing good practice in social marketing. The purpose of the conference is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of social marketing practice at both operational and strategic levels and promote the uptake of high-quality social marketing practice by all agencies and organisations that are seeking to create social good throughout the world.

It is expected that CARISMA sponsored participants will return to the region and serve as advocates for adopting and sustaining social marketing. Attending from the region (left to right in the photo) were Dr Rudolph Cummings,  Programme Manager, Health Sector Development, CARICOM Secretariat; Ms Dona Da Costa Martinez, Executive Director, Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago; Dr Edward Greene, UN Secretary-General  Special Envoy for HIV in the Caribbean; Dr James St Catherine, HIV Project Coordinator, OECS Secretariat; Mrs Julia Roberts, Deputy Director, Population Services International, Latin American and the Caribbean; Ms Sarah Insanally, Strategy and Resourcing Officer, PANCAP Coordinating Unit; and Ms Leah-Mari Valencia, Senior Director, Program Management, Population Services International.
